Twice Cut Curves

In this workshop we will work with Jenny's blocks from the Block of the Month (BOM) from 2022, which she designed together with Lucy Engels. Jenny will guide you through the many techniques necessary to create these blocks.
You'll learn a variety of exciting techniques and skills that will help you improve your sewing skills! How to sew No-pin curves – Curves without pins, a technique that gives you much more freedom and speed when sewing. You will master both small and large curves, circles and ovals and discover the fascinating Discover the double cut technique in the Drunkard's Path block .
You will also find numerous valuable tips on Precision , for perfect seam adjustment and to the right Irons that make your sewing projects look even more professional.
You can choose to work on one block or three different blocks , depending on your mood. We will also look at how you can cleverly combine and duplicate to create a beautiful quilt.
This course is a fantastic opportunity to expand your skills and create creative, unique projects!
This full-day workshop will take place on September 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on the floor.
The course language is English, but don't worry - I translate EVERYTHING.

To prepare for the workshop, all participants will have a one-hour "Get Ready!" online session via Zoom on August 5, 2025, led by Jenny herself. This session will cover the pattern, colors, templates, and necessary preparations.
The "Get Ready!" session will be recorded for your review and will be available on Jenny's teaching platform along with all course materials.

- Plenty of space, ironing stations, cutting station, power outlets, large tables and a great atmosphere
You will need the following materials:
- sewing machine
- High-quality, fine sewing thread (40 or 50wt) in a neutral color or to match your project
- Cutting mat if you prefer your own
- Small iron if you want to bring your own
- rotary cutter
- Long or large square patchwork ruler with a 45° line
- Hera marker (preferred) or other non-permanent marking tool/pen/chalk
- pins
- Seam ripper
- Glue pen (Jenny uses Prym Aqua Marker, but Sewline Glue Pen is also popular)
- Printed paper stencils) OR Jenny's acrylic stencils

This course is suitable for both beginners and advanced quilters. No curve experience is required, but general quilting skills are assumed (using a rotary cutter, sewing with accurate seam allowances, etc.).
*The course includes a paper version (pdf) of the templates for printing if you don't have Jenny's acrylic templates. However, if you ever decide to order the Plexiglas templates, you can order them online from the QuiltCabin in Dortmund.

Curves and Transparency

In this workshop we will play with Jenny’s blocks from the BOM 2023, which she designed together with Lucy Engels. Jenny will guide you through the different techniques necessary to create these works.
Learning objectives:
Among the many techniques and skills covered in this course are small and large no-pin curves (sewing curves without pins), the use of freezer paper, and color play to create transparency.
Jenny also has incredibly ingenious tips for making your blocks precisely and for adjusting seams if they're not 100% right. There are also tricks for ironing correctly. This is a block-based design.
You can choose between one or all three blocks.
